Music in our Worship
Music is integral to our worship and we are very fortunate to have a talented group of people here at Uplyme Church who give generously of their time. As a result, at every worship God is praised by music played on an increasing variety of instruments.
Morning Worship We are currently developing a worship band, something we have needed to enhance our worship, as our morning services combines both modern and traditional styles. Our aim is to continue to develop the Worship Band and its repertoire and, over time, to encourage young people to take part in our varied services.
Evening Worship Music at the evening service is more traditional in style, usually using the organ. At least twice a year, Taize chants replace the hymns, and singers from the Festival Choir are invited to lead them.
Festival Choir The choir is open to all who enjoy choral singing; there is no audition before joining. The choirsing on four of the following occasions: Palm Sunday. Easter Sunday, Pentecost Sunday, Trinity Sunday, Harvest Festival and our traditional Christmas Carol Service. Four or five evening rehearsals are held leading up to each of these services, which may be from our Worship Book, a 1662 Choral Evensong, Songs of Praise or a service of readings and music.
Gospel Choir The Uplyme Gospel Choir is led by Chloe Stratta and performs both in church and in the wider local area. Rehearsals are held at Uplyme Church at 7.30pm-9pm on Tuesdays during term time.
